ECODIESEL ENGINE POWERING RAM 1500 SUCCESS

The combination of Ram 1500 with an EcoDiesel is a winning one, as in 2015, one in four 1500 models were ordered with a diesel engine. That number jumps to 50 per cent when the higher trim levels (Laramie and Longhorn) are considered. 50 per cent of Ram 1500 EcoDiesel sales are conquest sales, an important pride point for the brand.

General Motors Canada took select Canadian journalists on a press drive of the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu along the coast of Vancouver Island using the Pacific Marine Circle Route. The route provided amazing ocean views, winding roads, and even a drive on a live logging road, which demonstrated the Malibu to be a capable cruiser even on uneven pavement.

According to Nissan, 150,000 U.S. pickup truck owners move up and down between the two segments annually, (15,000 in Canada) creating the opportunity to fill the “white space” between them.

Mercedes-Benz launched its all-new GLC SUV in Atlanta, Georgia, home to the headquarters of many of the world’s biggest companies including Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, AT&T Mobility, UPS and others. That list now includes Mercedes-Benz who moved its headquarters to Atlanta recently. To help put down roots in the area and let people know that they are part of the community, Mercedes-Benz has the naming rights of the new stadium being built in Atlanta to replace the Georgia Dome, where the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League play their home games.

In 2013, Mitsubishi Canada took automotive journalists up the Sea-to-Sky highway from Vancouver to Squamish, B.C to debut the 2014 Outlander. Fast forward two years to 2015 when Mitsubishi decided to debut the 2016 Outlander further up the Sea-to-Sky in Whistler, B.C. With the starting point once again being Vancouver, the drive route went through iconic Stanley Park and through the mountainous landscape along the way to Whistler.

NISSAN LAUNCHES NEXT GENERATION TITAN PICKUP

Nissan showed the all-new 2016 Nissan Titan at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The first model to go on sale in late 2015 will be the Titan XD Crew Cab. It will have a maximum available towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and carry a maximum payload of 2,000 lbs (when properly equipped). Titan will be available with a Cummins 5.0 litre V-8 turbo diesel engine outputting 310 horsepower and 555 foot/pounds of torque.

TOYOTA REDESIGNS TACOMA FOR 2016

The Toyota Tacoma has been sold in North America since 1964 and has amassed sales of over seven million units. It sold over 1,000 units into fleet in 2013 according to data from IHS Automotive driven by Polk. However, with new competitors like the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon from General Motors, and an updated Nissan Frontier on the horizon, Toyota has decided to revamp the Tacoma.
