ELECTRIFYING FLEET - GE'S RIDE 'N' DRIVE
GE Capital Fleet Services held their 14th annual Ride 'N' Drive event at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The event, themed "Electric Vehicles: Charging Ahead," showcased the emergence and acceptance of electric vehicles (EV) in the global market as well as GE's strategy for deployment of electric vehicles in the fleet industry. Over 150 attendees representing 80 businesses from manufacturing, energy, government and finance to healthcare sectors enjoyed a full day of activities, including a keynote address by Deb Frodl, Chief Strategy Officer, GE, on GE's EV strategy, from operating a global fleet management business to offering a portfolio of infrastructure solutions such as smart grid technology and EV commercial and residential charging stations, WattStation, which can cut charging time significantly. As well, Chris Gittens, Fleet Commercial Leader, GE, presented key initial findings from their EV survey including the top benefits and concerns perceived by survey respondents for introducing EVs into their fleet mix. GE will be producing a white paper with full results shortly which will be made available at www.fleetbusiness.com. The event concluded with a ride and drive component featuring over 120 vehicles from participating manufacturers, including 10 electric vehicles.
