Volkswagen Jetta Drive
VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TESTED
Volkswagen held a scenic drive through Southern Ontario for the media. It began at Old Mill Inn in Toronto, and ended at Millcroft Inn in Alton, Ontario. Base 2.0 litre inline-four cylinder and 2.0L turbocharged inline-four Clean Diesel (TDI) engines were driven (neither available at Jetta’s unveiling event in San Francisco, California). Jetta becomes VW’s entry-level vehicle in Canada. Jetta is available in Trendline and Trendline plus trim (only available on 2.0L base engine), Comfortline, Sportline (only on 2.5L engine) and Highline (not available on base engine). The Trendline offers four-wheel ABS, electronic stability control (ESC), power windows and door locks, auxiliary input, front, side and curtain air bags as standard equipment. Higher end models have available sunroof, satellite radio, leather interior, fog lights, Bluetooth connectivity, premium radio and more. “It is completely redesigned inside and out, and offers best-in-class cargo space and rear legroom,” said John White, President and CEO, VW Canada. “It offers the only Clean Diesel sedan available in the compact segment in Canada.” The 2011 Jetta is 7.4 centimetres longer than previous model; rear legroom increases 6.7 cm to 96.7 cm. Jetta is equipped with Intelligent Crash Response System, which turns off fuel pump, activates hazard lights and unlocks doors when airbags are deployed. VW will offer $1,500 fleet incentive on Jetta gas models and $600 on diesel models. |
