Element Fleet Management hosted its annual Ride and Drive at the Hershey Centre, in Mississauga, Ontario on June 6th. With over 200 fleet professionals in attendance, it was the company’s largest ride and drive to date.

Guests had the opportunity to learn more about Element’s current and emerging technologies at the Digital Village. These included updates to Xcelerate which has new ways for both drivers and managers to interact with fleet data and analytics, and through DriverCare, the fleet driver safety and risk management application Element and CEI Group have partnered on.

As well, attendees experienced Element’s Virtual Reality Driver Training in the making. Using 3D technology, guests were put through a driver training module in a virtual reality environment where they could react to stimuli and practice good driving behaviors.

The event was well received. “It was great opportunity to network with peers, making new and old relationships stronger, while driving some very good automobiles in the process. Having such a variety vehicles to test drive enables us, as customers, to see and experience new features and how they operate in real time,” said Stephen Illsley, from Sobeys.

Jahan Roohi from Buchanan Rubber Limited agreed: “The ride and drive event reassured me we made a great decision having Element manage our fleet.  The responsibilities and obligations for both the customer and fleet provider today are so contentious that regardless of the size of your fleet, there is no excuse to cut corners.”

Chris Gittens, Element’s President, introduced Element’s new Global CEO, Jay Forbes and expanded on the ride and drive’s theme, the re-invention of fleet management. Gittens shared how through its investment and use of technologies like analytics, connected data, notifications, connected data and geospatial dashboards, Element is offering mobility as a service and a solution.

Keynote speaker, Michele Cunningham, Element’s Senior Vice President, Product and Marketing spoke about “navigating the in-between time”, that exists amid the present and the disruptive technological future. She shared how Element is using technologies like AI, shared mobility and the internet of things to make operating fleets easier and more productive than ever before.

Cunningham reinforced that Element is continuing to focus and invest in value, connectivity and safety to ensure the fleet ecosystem is thriving and evolving.

The ride and drive included a supplier expo inside the Hershey Centre where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions of representatives from OEMs, up-fitters, tire and other fleet service providers.

The event culminated with the ride & drive itself, where over 160 cars, CUVs, SUVs, light and medium duty trucks from 14 OEMs were on hand for attendees to experience. For guests with upfitting requirements, an Upfitter corral was adjacent to the ride and drive marshalling area.
