Ford Canada’s six city Cross Canada Fleet Ride and Drive Event concluded in style at the Toronto Congress Centre on October 24, 2017. The event showcased Ford’s 2018 vehicle line up featuring the all new Eco Sport, Expedition and perennial favourite, F150 pick up truck.

Mark Richardson, Director, Fleet Sales and Remarketing welcomed attendees and introduced some of Ford Fleets newest team members including Barb Tilly, Fleet and Lease Marketing Manager, while paying tribute to Mike Traub and the many contributions he’s made over his years of service to Ford. CAF joins in wishing Mike all the best in retirement.

From vehicle learning labs and product specialist vehicle demonstrations, to getting behind the wheel to put the vehicles thru their paces, attendees were given many opportunities to experience what Ford Fleet has on offer.

“Our company is considering moving to a single OEM for our vehicles, so I liked how the event let me experience a lot of Ford product at one time,” said Frank Ierullo, Roxul, of the ride and drives format.

The 2018 F150 features all new engine options with an expanded availability of a segment first 10 speed automatic transmission, auto start-stop across the range while still remaining a best-in class towing vehicle. Available class exclusive pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection can automatically apply the F-150 brakes to prevent a collision, while it’s military grade aluminum alloy body keeps it Ford tough. The truck comes with a Pro Trailer backup assist that makes it easier for drivers of all skills by allowing the driver to “steer the trailer”, instead of steering the truck. Introduced on the 3.5L Eco Boost in 2017, port fuel and direct injection (PFDI) is now featured on all 2018 F-150 gasoline engines. At idle and under low power demands the engine operates using PFI for efficiency and emissions. The gasoline direct injection (GDI) high pressure fuel pump and injectors are turned off for less noise.

CAF tagged along with Markus Flair from Rogers and Alonso Martin from ARI to drive the all new F150 and 2018 Expedition. The comfort of the interior, combined with engine power and secure brakes, made for pleasurable riding. For big trucks, the F150 and Expedition torqued impressively. According to Ford, the 2018 Expedition is the smartest, most capable and adaptable Expedition ever. The Expedition provides fleet drivers with space, connectivity, smart technology, flexible seating and storage solutions which includes second tow tip and slide seating that provides easy access to the third row even when child seats are installed. The Expedition also comes equipped with the 3.5L Eco Boost engine and class exclusive 10 speed automatic transmission.

Described as “peppy” by attendees, the Eco Sport proved itself as the smallest SUV with the biggest personality at the ride and drive. The Ecosport, features flexible storage and Eco Boost engine, Eco Sport Smart connected features and intelligent 4-wheel drive system. The Eco sport is the newest addition to the Ford’s North American family and promises functionality, reliability and versatility for fleets.

"Our Ride & Drive event was a great opportunity for our Fleet customers to fully experience Ford’s full vehicle line-up of cars, trucks, SUVs, and crossovers," said Tilly. "We were thrilled that over 170 of our valued customers joined us to gain product insights on safety, technology, efficiency and performance, and then experience it all first-hand!"
