Fleet managers from across Canada and the United States came together recently in San Diego, California for the 2018 Ford Fleet Preview meeting. Over 1,000 attendees took part in the business meeting, featuring a number of Ford’s Top Guns who shared the company’s 2018 product plans, strategic priorities and ongoing commitment to the fleet and commercial business. Mark LaNeve, Vice-President, Marketing Sales and Service made it clear that fleet is an essential part of Ford’s business as he described the company’s plans to fortify, transform and grow, including the introduction of seven electric models being launched in the next five years.

After hearing from Ford’s brand, service and commercial Directors, guests travelled to San Diego’s Qualcomm stadium, the site of the many drive experiences available to event attendees. Ford fleet customers could take part in street, innovation and Built Ford Tough drive experiences as well as channel their inner fighter pilot with the Ford Mustang Drag Race. With close to 60 fleet upfitters, telematics and fleet related vendors exhibiting during the Ride and Drive, customers like Jon Grant, National Fleet Manager for G4S Secure Solutions, had plenty of opportunity to take a deep dive into products that serve their businesses.

“I was humbled to be invited to this years event, knowing that Ford was listening and reacting to a fleet of my size was a comforting thought. I was treated to first hand knowledge by subject matter experts and had frank discussions with all the team as we walked the displays, and tried the products. It was a professional function from start to finish,” said Grant.

In keeping with Ford trucks “work hard, play hard” reputation, Ford demonstrated its renowned hospitality hosting guests at Petco park for a San Diego Padres baseball game as well as enlisting The USS Midway, an Aircraft Carrier turned military maritime museum, as the site of the fleet previews concluding dinner reception.

“San Diego was a great location to host a number of our Canadian customers in conjunction with the U.S. Ford 2018 Model Year Fleet Preview. We truly appreciate the effort made by all to attend. Feedback has been very positive and we always enjoy the opportunity to dialogue with Fleet professionals from both Canada and the U.S.,” summed up Mike Traub, Director, Fleet Sales and Remarketing Ford of Canada.
