Nearly 200 people attended the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada 2017 annual two-day conference and annual general meeting at the Crown Plaza in Niagara Falls, Ontario, recently.

“The conference was well attended, informative, and honoured past and future leaders of our Industry, as well as awarding safest private fleets and inducting four long term drivers into the hall of fame,” said Mike Millian, President, PMTC. “The conference once again showed why it is considered by many to be the best value in the Industry.”

The conference featured a variety of seminars covering a wide range of topics. They included: Top 10 Legal Issues for Private Motor Carriers: Manage the Legal Impacts on Your Business in 2017; Analytics – Using Data to Create Efficiencies; The State of Private Fleets: Benchmarking Overview and Regulatory Update; Facing the Challenge of Marijuana in the Workplace; Autonomous Vehicle Risks; and the Changing Landscape of Collision Protocols.

An exhibitors showcase afforded attendees the opportunity to network with industry professionals. Exhibitors on hand included: ARI, Aviva, Verizon Telematics, Volvo Trucks Canada, Paccar Leasing, Drivewise, and many more.

Awards for Private Fleet Safety were presented on day one of the conference. The winners were: Mid-Sized Fleet, under 75 Power Units: John Deere Canada ULC; Large Fleet, 75 and over Power Units: Home Hardware Stores Limited; and Most Improved Fleet: Superior Propane.
