ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR GOLF DAY
Enterprise Rent A Car held their annual charity golf tournament at Wyndance Golf club in Uxbridge Ontario. The event was attended by over 145 golfers and raised money for the "Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade" (WICC) charity. Among those enjoying the day were (from left) Stuart Storm, TransportAction Lease Systems, Rob Pagliaro, Enterprise Rent A Car, John Allen, ARI, and Bill Goodwin, PHH.

GENERAL MOTORS FLEET ROUNDUP AT CALGARY STAMPEDE
General Motors held a customer appreciation event recently at the Calgary Stampede. Enjoying the Chuck Wagon racing action were: left to right, Wayne Roszell and Joe De Stefano, GM, Maureen Vander Burgh, Encana and Rich Engel, GM.

GM FLEET PREVIEW MEETING ROLLS INTO GTA
As part of a cross Canada tour, GM brought its 2010 vehicle line-up to Brampton, Ontario. The manufacturer outlined its plans for the future and gave customers an opportunity to test drive GM’s 2010 line-up first hand with a ride ‘n drive.

KIA RIDE N DRIVE
Fleet customers were invited to experience the ride and handling characteristics of Kia's product line and learn more about the company's fleet plans for 2010.

Fleet accounts were treated to an added bonus of being some of the first Canadian customers to see the all new Kia Forte coupe. Pictured with the Coupe are Jerome Flanagan, JPL VMS and Richard Pasta, Kia Canada.


PHH HOSTS FLEET SEMINAR
The event featured an overview of the fleet market presented by Dennis DesRosiers, a Canadian automotive industry analyst, a vehicle ride 'n drive with over 60 vehicles representing 11 manufacturers, as well as suggestions and recommendations on managing the fleet in turbulent times from PHH staffers.

NAFA CHAPTER GOLF DAY - WESTERN CHAPTER
Fleet managers from western Canada gathered at D'Arcy Rach golf course in Okatoks, Alberta, recently for the annual NAFA Western Chapter Golf Day.

One of the winning groups, as an actual winner is not announced, was (from left): Doug Sangster, Universal Ford; Ken Dodds, retired from TELUS; Glen Wakeford, just retired from TELUS; and Hugh Spence, Calco Equipment.

Fleet’s from the Calgary area were invited to attend one of a series of cross Canada meetings hosted by General Motors to preview the manufacturers 2010 products and fleet programs.

TRANSPORTACTION LEASE SYSTEMS HOLDS ACCIDENT AND DRIVER SAFETY SEMINAR

Leslie de Repentigny from Drive Wise Canada, a driver training and safety organization demonstrated the virtual reality driver simulator the company uses as part of a driver training strategy during the seminar.

One of the events at the presentation was a "damage evaluation" exercise where seminar participants were asked to examine a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and estimate the cost of repair. TLSI's Randy Roopchan, oversaw the exercise.




KIA DELIVERS NEW SEDAN TO CANADA
Kia Canada held a “What’s your Forte?” dealer delivery event recently, to celebrate the arrival of the all-new compact sedan in Canada. Forte comes in three trim levels, LX, EX and SX; with two engines available: a 2.0L four cylinder producing 156 HP and a 2.4L four cylinder producing 173HP. The vehicles have an ultra-low emissions vehicle rating (ULEV) and a $500 fleet rebate for qualified accounts. George Lykopoulos, fleet manager regional accounts for Kia, was at the event assisting dealers in identifying their Forte.


FORD OF CANADA 2010 FLEET PREVIEW MEETINGS SHOWCASE NEW PRODUCT OFFERINGS
Ford of Canada held a series of 2010 fleet preview meetings in Oakville recently at Ford of Canada National Headquarters. Fleet operators had the opportunity to experience first hand the ride and drive characteristics of some of Ford’s 2010 lineup. The events were structured so customer time behind the wheel was maximized. Mike Traub, director fleet sales and remarketing, Ford of Canada, welcomes guests to the first in a series of meetings the manufacturer held.

GREEN VEHICLES SHOWN AND DRIVEN AT GREEN LIVING SHOW
Fuel-efficient vehicles from Nissan Canada, Toyota/Lexus, General Motors and Smart, were showcased for visitors to the see and drive (as part of the ride and drive) at the Green Living Show in Toronto. An electric Maya 300 from Electrovaya, and a solar plus plug-in, converted Toyota Prius from Enermotion, were on display.

NEW COMMERCIAL TRUCK TECHNOLOGY, PRODUCTS, ON DISPLAY AT 10TH ANNUAL WORK TRUCK SHOW
More than 8,400 work truck industry professionals attended the 2009 Work Truck Show in Chicago, Ill. The annual event, held in conjunction with the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) convention, featured 490 exhibitors filling a show floor that covered nearly 500,000 square feet. The Work Truck show provided attendees with a close up look at new vocational trucks, components and equipment.


KIA DEALERS DO SOUL SEARCHING
Kia Canada celebrated the first delivery’s of the Soul to Canada by hosting a “Free Your Mind Soul Driveaway” event inviting dealers to come to Kia Canada’s head office in Mississauga, Ont., to take delivery of their first Soul to drive back to their respective dealerships throughout the province. Kia Canada’s regional sales manager, central region, Robert Bertulli hosted the event and presented the dealers with the keys to their vehicles. In all, 31 Souls were delivered. Bertulli (left), was joined by Richard Pasta, fleet manager, national daily rental (centre) and Jack Uczclwek, national sales manager (right), at the event.


Allison with Mercedes-Benz GLK HEAVY EQUIPMENT TAKES CENTRE STAGE
Toronto's International Centre played host to the National Heavy Equipment Show. Van/Truck upfitters were on hand, as were many heavy truck operators, and telematics companies.

Canada's International Auto Show once again took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and Rogers Centre, with a toned down approach. Electric vehicles were on many manufacturer's minds. Nissan decided to use Toronto Argonaut cheerleaders and players to launch its new Cube. Syed Ahmed, corporate manager, light commercial vehicles, Nissan Canada answered questions regarding the NV2500 cargo van concept, which made its North American debut.
