FUEL ECONOMY, SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY HALLMARKS OF NEW X1
BMW Group Canada welcomed the X1 to the X vehicle family with a drive from its Richmond Hill headquarters to Kitchener, Ontario through the back roads of western Ontario. For fleets concerned with fuel economy, the X1 is available with BMW EfficientDynamics.

BMW X1 offers fleet operators a fuel economy of 10.2 litres/100 kilometres city and 6.5 L/100km highway
BMW X1 offers fleet operators a fuel economy of 10.2 litres/100 kilometres city and 6.5 L/100km highway.
EfficientDynamics features aim to improve fuel economy while delivering the expected BMW driving experience of performance and power. Some of those features on the all-new BMW X1 include that improves fuel efficiency by using a four-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, brake energy regeneration, high precision injection, valvetronic variable valve lift, double VANOS variable valve timing, map-controlled oil pump, variable A/C compression and optimized final gear drive. On the vehicle drive, which included varying grades, turns and road conditions, the X1 achieved a fuel efficiency in line with BMW’s published numbers of 10.2 litres/100 kilometres city and 6.5 L/100km highway.

Fleets trending towards smaller engines will be interested in the X1's 2.0 litre inline-four engine, producing 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque while achieving a zero to 100km/h time of 6.7 seconds. The X1 is also equipped with the xDrive all wheel drive system, which is electronically controlled and transfers 100 per cent of engine torque to either axle (torque distribution is infinitely variable but has a default setting at 40 front/60 rear).

Many safety features are consolidated in the X1 vehicle package that will interest fleets who consider driver safety a must-have, including active and passive safety technology.

Both active and passive safety features are prominent on the X1, including air bags, anti-whiplash headrests, run tires and more
