Subaru has released a teaser images of its first electric car, which will be called the Solterra EV. Coming to the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan in 2022, it will be powered by the electric vehicle platform that Subaru has been co-developing with Toyota.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra shares its platform with the recently revealed Toyota bZ4X as part of the automakers joint venture. Subaru has not yet released any additional information regarding the vehicle specs, other than the meaning of the name Solterra, which combines the latin words for "sun" and "earth" and the powertrain which will be all-wheel drive.

It is speculated that the Subaru version will likely be the same size as the Toyota, which fits into the compact-crossover segment alongside models such as the RAV4 and Forester.
