Buffeted by Covid lockdowns, semi- conductor shortages and other issues Tesla has lost its position as the worlds leading EV brand. Tesla saw deliveries drop by 18% during the second quarter of this year, much of it attributed to the result of extended lockdowns in Shanghai where the Chinese Communist Party is still employing its strategy of zero Covid. As well, operations in Tesla’s new new assembly lines near Austin Texas and Berlin have gotten off to a rocky start with CEO Elon Musk referring to them as “money furnaces” Tesla also faces challenges from legacy OEMs who have gone all in on EV development and production.
