Volkswagen and Audi Canada hosted its annual fleet ride and drive in the Muskoka Woods for 40 fleet customers, partners and prospects. Guests were privileged to enjoy their stay at the JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa for the two-day event. Fleet owners, operators and managers were brought together to learn more about VW and Audi’s fleet programs and latest fleet vehicle offerings.
Thomas Roth, Manager, Fleet and Corporate Sales Volkswagen Canada kickstarted the day with a business meeting. Thomas spoke to VW’s commitment to North America and its dealer network. The automaker currently has 142 dealerships Canada wide. Volkswagen also had a record year for 2018 with sales up 3.7% from 2017. The presentation included a review of VW’s MY2020 vehicle lineup specific to fleet. Updates for 2020; safety features like forward collision warning, park distance control, rear traffic control and adaptive cruise control come standard on the 2020 Passat. The popular Tiguan will come available in the IQ Drive line for 2020 which will include all comfort line features plus adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. VW will also be launching the all new 2020 Atlas Cross Sport in January which will offer seating for 5 and AWD.
After the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to drive vehicles like the Golf, Tiguan, Atlas and Passat on the scenic roads of Muskoka. VW’s flagship vehicle, the new Volkswagen Arteon was also available for guests to test drive. The AWD, 268 horsepower, 2.0 Litre TSI engine with 8-speed automatic was a hot commodity amongst the group. Vera Lawrie, Emkay commented on the digital cockpit in the Arteon, “having the navigation behind the wheel is a cool feature. I like that it’s conveniently in front of you and keeps your eyes on the road.”
Darlene Spriel, Foss/LeasePlan National paid the automaker another compliment, “VW has done an excellent job at developing their fleet program and getting their vehicles on selector guides. They’re incentives are competitive for an import automaker.”
After lunch, Jamie Pawluk, Manager, Corporate Sales Audi led the Audi product presentation which highlighted the brands focus on technology. MY2020 vehicles feature Audi Drive Select, which give drivers four drive modes to choose from. Vehicles also include the automakers latest AWD system, quattro with ultra-technology resulting in optimized performance and better vehicle handling. 2020 Audi vehicles come equipped with Audi Pre Sense 360 safety system which includes lifesaving safety features like intersection assist, turn assist, collision avoidance and emergency assist. Lastly, vehicles come standard with MMI touch response touch screen technology with handwriting and voice recognition capabilities.
Jamie also discussed Audi’s competitive fleet incentives which can be combined with current retail cash incentives for huge fleet savings. He also gave guests a glimpse into future models to be launched for 2020 like the A6 all road, SQ7, SQ8, Q5 PHEV, A7 and A8 PHEV, RS6 Avant and e-tron Sport Back.
Audi had a fleet that included the A3, A4, A6, Q3, Q5 and Q7 for attendees to drive and enjoy. The winding roads were the perfect setting for drivers to test each brands lineup of vehicles performance, handling and utility. Deborah Pavao, Foss/LeasePlan commented, “I’ve always admired VW and Audi vehicles turning radius and great handling. You have confidence driving them. They are well engineered.”
Jamie Pawluk put the ride and drive in perspective, “this event is always a great opportunity for us to re-connect with our clients and meet new ones. We appreciate the time everyone takes out of their busy schedules to join us at this great venue and we hope the presentation and drive experience shows that putting Audi in a fleet as a premium vehicle is more affordable than many would think.”
