As part of their cross Canada tour making stops in Vancouver and Montreal, Mercedes-Benz Vans hosted their annual fleet ride and drive event in Toronto recently. Over 120 years of pride, commitment and hard work was put on display for over 100 registered fleet operators, fleet management companies, key accounts and strategic partners. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Mercedes-Benz Vans Fleet solutions and to test the Sprinter and Metris’s capabilities on the grounds of the Toronto Congress Centre during multiple drive courses.
Iain Forsyth, National Manager, Mercedes Benz Vans welcomed guests and took the time to introduce his fleet team who were in attendance to network with attendees. Iain spoke to the breadth of options available for fleets to choose from. Mercedes Benz Vans currently offers its customers 90 total variants not including the hundreds of unique van configurations available to drivers. The automaker offers 7 different core models of their classic Sprinter Van in addition to 3 core models of the Metris. Iain also took the opportunity to familiarize attendees with Mercedes-Benz Vans competitive fleet incentive programs in addition to specific unique fleet discounts for fleet management companies, owner/operators and key accounts.
Adrian Coleman, National Manager, Customer Service and Parts gave an overview of how Mercedes-Benz Vans ship through solutions are making it easier than ever for fleets to put Sprinter to work for their businesses. Adrian also spoke to the companies “Pinnacle Fleet Solutions 2020 Pilot Program”. The program is a package of billing and after sales support services that ensures consistent parts availability and discounted parts rates across the country for Mercedes-Benz Vans Fleet customers. The pilot project will be moving forward in Canada soon, with the hopes of offering the program for dealers to offer fleets in the future.
Following Iain and Adrian, was an in-depth product presentation and walk around that highlighted the updates with Mercedes-Benz Vans, total cost of ownership and more given by Taj Gill, Product Specialist for Vans. Cost effectiveness, customized solutions, safety, connectivity and fascinating product concepts are the five pillars behind the van’s product offerings, explained Taj. Taj also gave attendees a breakdown of total cost of ownership for both Sprinter and Metris models, with costs as low as 0.46 cents per kilometre to own and operate the vans.
The product walk around was then followed by lunch and the Metris and Sprinter drive course. Guests had the chance to drive the all-new gas-powered Sprinter with safety features like Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). Attendees were also encouraged to drive the Sprinter’s segment competitors that were on site, to see and feel for themselves the Mercedes-Benz difference. New for MY2020, Sprinter will come equipped with the MBUX entertainment system with SiriusXM radio, in addition to being offered in a 4-cylinder Diesel engine variant.
Iain Forsyth put the day in perspective, “Mercedes-Benz Vans Canada’s second annual Fleet Ride & Drive event provided an exciting opportunity to highlight our outstanding lineup in the important Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal markets. It was particularly gratifying for our team to see how excited customers were about the 2019 Sprinter’s efficient new gas powertrain, MBUX features, transmission options, benchmark safety systems, and increased payload capacity. Testing the model’s responsiveness on a closed course underscored how the 2019 Sprinter helps our customers make the most out of every workday.”
