NAFA’s Ontario Chapter held its annual Ride and Drive event on September 26th at the Paramount Fine Food’s Centre in Mississauga. The event hosted over 300 attendees and featured several fleet vendors, an upfitter corral and twelve fleet minded OEM’s showcasing over 90 different cars, trucks, vans and speciality vehicles.
Among them, was the popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van which comes in both gas and diesel engine variants. For 2020, Sprinter will come equipped with SiriusXM in addition to housing the latest version of its MBUX infotainment system and more. Guests were also eager to drive the sporty all-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer which is the latest member of Chevy’s SUV family. Blazer offers advanced safety technologies like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and all-wheel drive capability. The Subaru team brought the all new Subaru Outback which packs a new platform, improved cabin space and loads more safety tech. The FCA Gladiator was also on hand for guests to enjoy. Customers like Neil Bond, Getinge was impressed after driving the Gladiator, commenting on the jeep/truck cross’s capability and versatility. Ford brought out the big toys with the 2020 Super Duty which boasts a 37,000-pound tow rating capacity for its diesel-powered engine. For 2020 Super Duty gets a number of new driver assistance features, like Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist, precollision braking with pedestrian detection and more.
The annual event allows fleet professionals in Ontario network with their industry peers. With fleets finalizing selector guides and previewing new vehicles, the ride and drive is a great event for end users to experience first-hand the products their drivers will be choosing for 2020. It was also a great opportunity for members to meet Jon Grant, NAFA’s recently named Ontario Chapter Chair. Jon Grant is also the current National Fleet Manager for G4S Canada, a security solution’s provider.
