KIA chose the Muskoka Woods for the 2019 Kia Sorento’s unveil, and the active, versatile vehicle was right at home in the Canadian wilderness.
Guest’s stayed at the luxurious JW Marriot Hotel on Lake Rosseau and spent the second day of the excursion at Deerhurst resort where attendees had the opportunity to test the Sorento’s impressive towing capacity.
The Sorento’s size and style gives it the benefits and competitive edge of being a compact vehicle on the cusp of SUV. For fleet professionals, the vehicle has the much preferred 7 seater option, towing capacity for weekend trips and fuel economy for the daily commute.
The Sorento has a refreshed, bolder and more sophisticated appearance with a sharper grille design with hot chrome and hot stamping inserts. It has All-new Front Fascia and LED Fog Lights, LED Taillight and wheel designs to choose from. The Compact SUV has a newly sculpted rear bumper and an improved steering wheel, instrumentation graphics, centre console, gear shifter, seat pattern, accent trim and more.
The 2019 Sorento’s new trim makes 7 seats more accessible that ever, and its 8-speed automatic transmission helps provide a more refined driving experience and improved fuel economy. The V6 3.3L LX Premium/EX/EX Premium/SX/SXL has a combined fuel economy of 11.2 L/100km (12.5 L/100 City and 9.7L/100 Highway).
The new Sorento is now more connected, with new UVO intelligence telematics to connect drivers to a world of support services. UVO Intelligence allows for remote start/stop services controlled from the drivers smart device, automatic collision notification capability in case of an emergency and vehicle management which monitors the vehicles state of health from the drivers smart device.
The Sorento is a 2018 IIHS Top Safety Pick + Award winner thanks to features like the Rear Cross Traffic Alter System, 360 Cam, Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Driver Attention Alert and Auto Emergency Braking. On top of that, it’s made of 53% Advanced High Strength Steel, making the vehicle lighter, safer and more fuel efficient.
The new Sorento is an important player in Kia’s portfolio. So much so, that Kia Canada vice-president and COO, Ted Lancaster was on hand at the launch. “Knowing how active our country is, we are very excited to bring the refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento to Canadians” said Lancaster. “The 2019 Kia Sorento will continue to offer everything that an active lifestyle needs, including fantastic utility and AWD performance.” Given all the features and benefits of the 2019 Sorento, it’s sitting in the cat bird seat, ready to compete in a hot CUV market.
