Ford is pleased to announce the appointment of James “Jim” D. Farley, Jr., current chief operating officer, Ford Motor Company to the position of President and CEO, effective October 1st. Farley succeeds current President and CEO, Jim Hackett who is retiring this fall.
Prior to his current job, Farley served as president of New Businesses, Technology and Strategy. Farley also served previously as Ford’s executive vice president and president of Global Markets. From 2015 to 2017, Farley served as executive vice president and president, Ford Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to his position in Ford Europe, Middle East and Africa, Farley served as executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales & Service. Farley has also held the role of group vice president, global marketing and Canada, Mexico and South America.
Farley attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he completed his MBA with a focus in finance.
