General Motors has announced the appointment of Steve Carlisle as executive vice president and President, North America effective September 1. Carlisle is replacing Barry Engle, who is leaving GM to pursue other opportunities.
Carlisle, a native of Woodstock, Ontario began his career with GM in 1982 at the Oshawa Truck assembly plant. With Carlisle’s appointment GM will have one sales, service and marketing leader across its full portfolio of automotive and connected service brands in North America. “Steve will help us scale the considerable transformation progress we have been making, while at the same time preserving the sufficient autonomy necessary to maintain four distinct vehicle brands,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “ This change will also improve collaboration and decision making that fuel innovation.”
