BMW and Daimler may be joining forces to develop vehicle platforms for electric cars, a move that could save each company at least $7.91 billion US dollars. They pair already have a joint procurement program and recently extended their alliance to include development of advanced driver assistance systems and mobility services.

The deal would include sharing engineering costs for driverless costs and potentially entire vehicle platforms.
