The Minister of Environment, Canada signed Canada on to the Drive Zero Pledge, an international initiative aimed at increasing the number of zero and low-emission vehicles in the medium and heavy-duty transportation sector.
Canada is the first country to sign this pledge. The goal of the campaign is to make zero-emission technology commercially viable by 2025 in the commercial vehicle market segments, building up zero-emission technology in commercial vehicle sales globally by 2040. Drive to Zero partners also include cities, manufacturers, fleets, and fuel suppliers. The government of British Columbia has also adhered to the pledge.
For the United States, only the state of California has signed on.
