The Government of Canada has announced a $770,000 investment to help Newfoundland and Labrador build 28 electric vehicle chargers across the province. The federal funding in in addition to the close to $1.3 million dollars the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador are investing in the project. The funding will go to building an EV network along the Trans-Canada highway, connecting the province’s capital, St. John to Port aux Basques. Fourteen sites will feature both a fast charger and a Level 2 charger. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer.
The installation of these chargers is an important milestone, as Newfoundland and Labrador becomes the tenth and final province/territory to join the national EV charging network stretching across Canada.
