As part of Visa’s Fintech Fast Track Program, Fillip has launched a market leading digital fuel Visa card* specifically for small business fleets in Canada, giving drivers the ability to pay at any Visa-accepting fuel station in Canada equipped with a contactless card reader. The fee-free smartphone app eliminates the need for multiple physical cards for different fleet programs.
With 71 per cent of U.S. small businesses operating fleets of five or fewer vehicles, Fillip recognized that small businesses rarely need the credit-based model offered by traditional card fleet programs. By using Fillip, small businesses can benefit from all of the same money-saving features available to standard card fleet programs, a benefit many would likely not normally qualify for because they do not have the credit, financial transparency, or scale of businesses with larger fleets.
The Fillip platform allows small businesses to quickly and easily distribute digital cards to drivers, including non-traditional groups, such as contract (last mile) drivers, associations and employee programs. Fillip’s digital card can be used anywhere at any time, removing the need to carry several physical cards for different retailers, or to change routes to accommodate fuel stations that accept certain programs.
“More than 97 per cent of businesses in the US and Canada are small businesses, and while many of them operate fleets, they seldom get the opportunity to access money-saving fleet programs. Entrepreneurs not only lose out on fleet card benefits, they also become more vulnerable to issues like fraud and overspending,” said Alice Reimer, CEO of Fillip. “Fillip is a robust solution designed specifically for the needs of owners so they can keep their businesses going and make life easier for their drivers.”
Fillip has joined Visa’s Fintech Fast Track Program, speeding up the process of integrating with Visa and its enablement partners to launch programs such as this, and enabling Fillip to leverage the reach, capabilities, and security of VisaNet, Visa’s global payment network.
