Ford Motor Company has announced the latest production cuts for seven North American plants as a result of the global semi-conductor shortage. Plants affected include the Oakville, ON plant and the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, where the F-150 full size pickup is manufactured. Industry officials have said the chip shortage would be worse in the second quarter than the first, and it was not clear if supplies would recover in the third quarter and whether automakers could make up for all the lost production later this year.
