The last van standing in the North American market , Ram’s ProMaster City, has just been counted out by parent company Stellantis. Gaining popularity for fuel efficiency compared to their larger siblings small commercia vans began to proliferate in the U.S and Canada beginning in 2010 with the Ford Transit Connect. By mid decade there were a number of competitors in the space from manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz Nissan, GM and Ram. In recent years the sales in the small commercial van segment have been dropping. With developments in full size commercial electric vans, the big advantage of lower fuel costs for compact vans have dissipated contributing to their demise.
