The U.S. federal government has begun cracking down on individual diesel owners and enthusiast tuners who use aftermarket “defeat devices” that disable emissions controls on vehicles that had passed emissions mandates. The latest company to feel the governments wrath was Spartan Technologies. Spartan’s owner Matthew Sidney Geourge, was convicted in court forviolating the U.S. Clean Air Act by selling the devices that can override the emissions systems built into  F-Series trucks using the 6.4-litre Power Stroke diesel. The U.S. Department of justice also accused Geourge of tax evasion.
