In addition to a sleek, sporty new exterior, one of the most dramatic updates to the all-new Nissan Sentra is in the driving experience enabled by a new, larger and more powerful engine and key suspension enhancements. It goes on sale in Canada in late February, 2020.

“Nissan has a vibrant offering of sedans for customers in the Canadian market,” said Steve Rhind, director of marketing at Nissan Canada Inc. “With more than 6 million Sentra vehicles sold all-time in North America, we believe the 2020 Sentra will reach new heights offering refinement and quality, technology and performance not seen before. The lower stance and more athletic design cues from the Maxima sports sedan give Sentra a sexy new look.”

Originally introduced for the 1982 model year, the eighth-generation Sentra is built on a new platform that provides greatly improved proportions and stance – about two inches lower and two inches wider than the previous generation. The exterior also incorporates Nissan’s latest design language found on its other dramatic sedans, including its signature V-motion grille, thin LED headlamps and floating roof. Sentra also features new wheel designs and a slate of new colours, including three new two-tone colour combinations.

The new, fuel-efficient 2.0-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine replaces the previous 1.8-litre design. The new engine delivers 149 horsepower and 145 ft.-lb. of torque, an increase of 20 percent and 16 percent respectively.

Fuel economy is also projected to improve. The Sentra is available in either a 6-speed manual transmission (base S model only), or with the latest generation Xtronic transmission.

Advanced safety and driver assist technologies are now available across Nissan’s sedan lineup and the new Sentra is no exception. Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems, is standard on all 2020 Sentra grade levels.

Safety Shield 360 includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist (HBA) and Rear Intelligent Emergency Braking (RIEB). Also standard are Rear Door Alert (RDA), 10 supplemental air bags and Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA).
