The federal government is partly funding an EV awareness program in Yukon with $48,500 from Natural Resources Canada's Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative.

The funding supported the first-ever EV Discovery Day, which included a trade show in which local dealers and owners highlighted electric vehicles as viable options in northern climates.

The initiative also included an educational exhibit at the Yukon Transportation Museum and promotional materials near existing charging stations.

EV Discovery Day was organized in partnership with the Government of Yukon and the Yukon Transportation Museum, whose joint contributions bring the project's total funding to $97,000.

The Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative supports projects that aim to increase awareness of ZEVs and ultimately support a greater adoption of ZEVs by Canadians.

The federal government is committed to a goal of 100% of all passenger vehicle sales in Canada being ZEVs by 2040.
